AARHUS, November 16 2010 – Amplex is launching a Smart Grid Collaboratorium, where entrepreneurs and start-up companies are invited to collaborate with Amplex on Smart Grid solutions.

Amplex will provide 500 square meters of office space in its conveniently located headquarters — at no cost to the participants. The objective is for the entrepreneurs to take advantage of the physical surroundings while being part of an innovative atmosphere at a well-established company with many years of experience within cleantech and Smart Grid.

With Smart Grid Collaboratorium, entrepreneurs with Smart Grid-related projects can get a great start in their new business, with project ideas that might eventually become integrated parts of Amplex’ Smart Grid solution, StartGrid™ and its central software platform, OpenCity™.

Amplex CEO, Jens Hørup, states: “We see many opportunities in working closely with innovative cleantech entrepreneurs. With ten years’ experience in the cleantech business, we can share our expertise and network while gaining new insights and learning new approaches. And we are delighted that the municipality of Aarhus supports the idea and thereby helps strengthen the smaller players within cleantech in the Aarhus area.”

The Climate Secretariat in the City of Aarhus supports Amplex’ innovative approach in reaching out to entrepreneurs and small cleantech companies: “Aarhus is a knowledge city and the intelligent power network (Smart Grid) is a knowledge-intensive IT solution that will help us ensure that Aarhus as a community can integrate large amounts of renewable energy from wind, sun and biomass”, states Jan Nielsen, director of Aarhus’ Climate Secretariat. “The City of Aarhus is happy to support new Smart Grid projects by making the city’s buildings available for test and demonstration”.

Project ideas for the Smart Grid Collaboratorium can be emailed to Amplex at collaboratorium@amplex.dk.To qualify for the Collaboratorium, the project must be ready for demonstration within the 6-month project span. In addition, there must be a commercial perspective for the project idea as well as for Amplex.
